Pumping Stations

In the golf market, the pumping station is essential for the facility's success as the quality of the grass depends on it and therefore the  quality of the service that the golf course provides to its customers.

Knowing the importance of this equipment, Itelmatis Control Systems created a pumping station management software application that can work under the most adverse conditions and in a completely automatic fashion even when some equipment fails to reply.

In order to raise the quality standards of our services we created the S-Monitor, a software application that benchmarks, monitors and controls all the pumping station parameters and brings added value to the pumping station with features like SMS alarms.

Among the functional characteristics of our pumping station we would like to highlight:

  1. Manual and automatic control of all the pumps through the electric panel switches allowing for the pumps to be started even in case of automaton failure
  2. Speed variation distributed among all the pumps (or among the ones selected by the user) through the usage of a variable speed drive
  3. Start of all secondary pumps with one or more soft starters or an alternative starting method
  4. Starting sequence rotation using the FIFO method (first in, first out)
  5. In case of variable speed drive failure, the system activates the alarm and disconnects it, continuing with the rest of its functionalities  and using the softstarter as an alternative method to start the pumps automatically
  6. In case of pump failure, the system will try to start the pump a certain number of times as defined by the user and. if the pump doesn't start, the system will activate the alarm indicating its failure, taking it out off service and continuing to work with the rest of the pumps automatically
  7. In case of softstarter failure, the user can choose to keep the system working by forcing it to start the pumps directly, even when on automatic mode
  8. In case of pressure probe failure, the system allows the normal automatic process of the pumping station to continue if pressure switches are installed on the electric panel
  9. The system can detect major pipe breaks activating the alarm and stopping the pumping station if that is what the user wiants
  10. The system fills the pipes avoiding waterhammer strikes and for the pumps to run out of curve during the filling process
  11. If the user can define which pumps will work with speed variation and which pumps will not
  12. The user can set one specific pressure point or a pressure range within which the pumping station will operate
  13. The station's reply time can be adapted to the specific nieeds of the pumping station to avoid waterhammer strikes
  14. Real time visualization and data acquisition of the reservoir level, as well as programmable level alarms and reservoir replenishment
  15. Real time visualization and data acquisition of instant flow debited by the pumping station
  16. Two water meters with programmable reset
  17. Completely open system allowing the addition of extra control and analisys systems to the station
  18. The system is based on the S-Monitor software making all its advantages and tools available to the user

- Manual and Automatic control of all the pumps through pushbuttons installed in the electric panel, this system is a reserve if the automaton fails to work;

- Pump shared frequency inverter method;

- All the secondary pumps start through one or more soft starters or other alternating starting method;

- Starting sequence rotation according to working hours distribution through FIFO method (first in, first out);

- In the eventuality of frequency inverter malfunction, the system marks one alarm and excludes the frequency inverter from the control loop, using for the pump starting process the soft starter. This allows the station to keep operating;

- In the eventuality of a pump malfunction, the system will try to start the pump a limited numbers of times set by the user, and if the pump does not start, the system will mark the pump’s breakdown and follow the normal pumping process;

- In the eventuality of a soft starter malfunction, the user may set the system to keep operating normally by starting the pumps directly without soft starter;

- In the eventuality of pressure probe malfunction, the system allows the automatic normal process of the pumping station to continue if pressure switches are installed on the electric panel;

- The system can detect major breaches in the pipelines and alarm the user, and if the user wishes so it can also stop the pumping process;

- The system executes pipeline filling before starting the normal pumping process in order to avoid waterhammer strikes and the pumps to run out of curve during the pipeline filling;

- If the user wishes so, the system can define which pumps will work with speed variation and which pumps will not;

- The user can define one specific pressure set point or define a range of pressure in which the pumping station will operate;

- The user can set a reply time limit having in account the specific characteristics of his pumping station, in order to avoid waterhammer strikes;

- Real time visualization and data acquisition of the reservoir level, as well as programmable level alarms and reservoir replenishment;

- Real time visualization and data acquisition of instant flow debited by the pumping station;

- Two water counters with programmable reset;

- Completely open system with allowance of adding other elements of analyses and control to the facility;

- The system runs in a S-Monitor software base, hence all the advantages and tools of the software are available to the user.
